The leaker, TheGhostofHope, claims that Infinity Ward, the studio behind the Call of Duty franchise, is “planning to release all/almost all Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps together all at once sometime during the post-launch of Modern Warfare II (2022)”. He also disclosed that the maps are likely to be released as part of Year 2 content. Another leak, posted by Twitter user aet0MW2 and reposted by Ghost, appeared to corroborate this claim. The new leak is allegedly an image of the game’s Ground War map and is reminiscent of a Modern Warfare 2 (2009) map. Unfortunately, the media has since been disabled by Twitter in response to a report from the copyright holder, presumably Activision. The same fate befell a leak of the title’s gameplay which we recently reported. There’s currently no way to confirm this claim. However, fans of the game can look forward to the Call of Duty Next event on September 15 for more information on the future of Call of Duty. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare and a semi-reboot of 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Many fans consider Modern Warfare as the best game in the franchise’s history. When the first reboot of the original Modern Warfare came out, fans couldn’t contain their excitement for the same thing to happen to the sequel. Infinity Ward has taken several steps to ensure that MWII delivers. For one, the title will incorporate some changes to the gameplay, such as an advanced AI system, water physics, and swimming mechanics. Also, it will feature two new game modes: Knockout and Prisoner Rescue. Modern Warfare II isn’t scheduled to come out until October 28. However, Activision will be releasing a multiplayer beta from September 16 to September 26 across all platforms for people who pre-ordered the game. The publisher will also provide early campaign access to people who pre-order.
