To make matters worse for Xbox Series S/X owners, games like God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West are all going to be exclusive to the PS4/PS5 as well. With that said, Microsoft isn’t one to let this generation go on without a plan. In addition to Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, which are going to be exclusive to the Xbox Series S/X, two more leaked potential Xbox exclusives are getting fans excited for the future of the latest Xbox console.
What kind of Xbox exclusives should fans expect?
According to different sources, there are at least three more Xbox console exclusives that are enough to make PlayStation owners jealous. The first one is from Stoic Studio, which is composed of former BioWare developers. Jeff Grubb claims that the developers of critically-acclaimed The Banner Saga series are currently working on “Project Belfry”, which is a narrative-heavy sidescrolling action game with RPG elements. The other two games are even better, as they’re being made by We Happy Few’s Compulsion Games and The Outerworlds’ Obsidian Entertainment. Windows Central referred to Compulsion’s first exclusive for Microsoft as “Project Midnight” and described it as a third-person single-player title with a “southern gothic adventure”. The concept art shown by Windows Central features a dark-skinned woman with braided hair, as well as what appears to be a half-human, half-bird hybrid transforming and what looks like this creature’s nest. Meanwhile, Obsidian Entertainment’s Xbox-exclusive title is “Project Pentiment”. The same source claims that a 12-person team is hard at work making this game with Josh Sawyer in the lead. Sawyer is best known for his work on Pillars of Eternity and Fallout: New Vegas, the latter of which is widely considered one of the best spin-offs ever. Pentiment is being described as a narrative RPG made in the same mold as the weirdly wonderful game that is Disco Elysium. If all three of these leaks are true, then the Xbox’s library of exclusives is about to get bigger. We’re not quite sure if the games are going to be exclusive on the Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X. However, given that Microsoft has already implemented Xbox Cloud Gaming for its consoles, we don’t think that this matters a lot. We’re also very excited to hear more about Obsidian’s next project and hope that the studio isn’t spreading itself too thin - it’s also working on Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 right now.
