The island will later be revealed to be named “Genosha”, which is just one of the many places that the Mutants call home in the comic books. But, what starts off as an off-the-books acquisition mission takes a turn for the worse when Sentry, a long-rumored member of the team, starts “hearing voices” and they’ll have to stop the MCU’s version of Superman “at all costs”. Thunderbolts was initially revealed as the final film of Phase 5 of the MCU. It’s still unclear if this remains the case after Blade was pushed back to September 6, 2024. Then again, Kevin Feige could’ve been referring to Thunderbolts like what the MCU did with Avengers: Endgame. Although the second-highest-grossing film of all time is widely considered the culmination of the entire Phase 3 (and pretty much the MCU at that point), the last film of Phase 3 is Spider-Man: Far From Home. Blade, which recently got a new director and writer, could explore the more supernatural side of the MCU while also keeping us updated about what happened following the events of New World Order and Thunderbolts. Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have changed plenty of things from the source material to fit within the cinematic universe’s narrative. It’s possible that the inclusion of Genosha, if it happens, will be more of a red herring to throw audiences off their tracks before the actual introduction of Mutants into the MCU. After all, it won’t be long after Blade premieres in theaters that two actual Mutants will join the Foray as Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds make their highly anticipated debut as Wolverine and Deadpool, respectively, in Deadpool 3. In the meantime, Marvel fans can look forward to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on the big screen on February 17.
