The Karl Urban-led The Boys has been Prime Video’s flagship program for over two years now. The smash-hit series has received both critical acclaim and love from audiences despite being “only” just two seasons long so far. Prime Video has even ordered a spin-off for The Boys, one that features superpowered college kids, as well as another animated one. The latter, Diabolical, is the subject of Prime Video’s latest trailer, which is everybody’s first look at The Boys spin-off. In The Boys’ universe, superheroes are real. Unfortunately, unlike the heroes that we’ve come to know from comic books and other media, these super-powered beings are man-made and hand-crafted by greedy companies with the sole purpose of dominating mankind while masquerading as Earth’s saviors. The show revolves around The Boys, a group of non-powered vigilantes on their quest to bring the corrupt power-hungry individuals to justice. Diabolical introduces audiences to a newly-bred supe who gets out of the lab and goes on a rampage by accident, using her powers like laser beams to inadvertently cause chaos. It’s equal parts bloody and brilliant, with the same humor that the flagship show. Even if Diabolical tells a self-contained story set in The Boys’ universe, fans are already curious to find out if the infant supe will make her way to the mainline series. Or, maybe, she already has? If nothing else, Diabolical should do an excellent job at riding audiences over until Season 3 of The Boys arrives on June 3. According to the trailer, Diabolical will premiere on Prime Video on March 4. In other Prime Video news, the popular streaming platform also dropped another trailer and more details for a highly anticipated show. The Lord of The Rings prequel, The Rings of Power, will launch on Prime Video in September.
