Rockstar made the announcement on an official blog post where the publisher laid out its plans for GTA Online and Red Dead Online. While Rockstar had plenty good to say about GTA Online’s future, it couldn’t say the same about RDO. Instead, Rockstar all but confirmed that the online open-world western is on the back burner for now. Here’s an excerpt of what Rockstar said in its latest statement: Rockstar’s latest update is in line with what we’ve heard, down to the company’s decision to cancel future remasters, at least, until GTA 6 is out. This is certainly bad news for fans of the Red Dead franchise. It must sting to find out that Rockstar is giving up on Red Dead Online just days after finding out that the long-rumored remaster of Red Dead Redemption is no longer happening. But, it’s not all bad news for the land of digital cowboys and horses. If Rockstar is willing to temporarily shelve a potential cash cow for GTA 6, we’re sure that the studio has equally grand plans for the franchise as soon as GTA 6 is out. As for GTA 6, Rockstar rightfully has big plans for the upcoming GTA installment. After confirming that the game is in development earlier this year, we have had insiders come to use to confirm that it will use the RAGE 9 engine and feature a very narco-centric single-player campaign.
