Marvel Studios has released two new trailers and they sent fans into a frenzy. Both trailers show a brief glimpse of two Black Panther helmets. Fans have speculated that this is a hint that there will be two Black Panthers appearing in Wakanda Forever. There have been theories about multiple Black Panthers appearing in the sequel following the death of T’Challa’s as there was no clear-cut successor for the mantle of protector for Wakanda. It’s worth noting that T’Challa did not have an heir and his only sibling is female.
The possible Black Panther candidates
Fans have identified two characters as the leading candidates for Black Panther. The first one is Shuri because of the distinct markings on the new Black Panther helmet. Another is from a scene in one of the trailers where the new superhero is using the panther-shaped Vibranium Gauntlets which is one of her signature weapons in the MCU. The second character who may be a candidate for Black Panther is Nakia, a member of the Dora Milaje. She also happens to be T’Challa’s lover in the first movie. She does have one scene in the trailer donning a bluish full-body suit that is distinct to her. The other candidate is Okoye, the leader of the elite Dora Milaje unit. She can hold her own in fights and has the strength to protect Wakanda. Fans have come up with wilder theories for the next Black Panther including a resurrected Eric Kilmonger. Interestingly, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the movie and were asked about Michael B. Jordan. The trio refused to reveal anything about a potential Kilmonger appearance in the film. Kimmel also prodded his guests about the appearance of Doctor Doom in the film. Victor von Doom is a character with close ties to the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, both of which are coming to the MCU. He also made several remarks on Letitia Wright becoming the next Black Panther, which everyone on stage laughed off. The Marvel “media training” was discussed at length during their appearance on the show. The stars have revealed that there are emails sent to actors to outline what they can’t reveal during interviews. It may be exciting to have multiple Black Panthers in the movie, but a closer inspection of the helmets makes it more likely that it’s the same headpiece worn by T’Challa. The MCU might just have used the shot to highlight the transition from one protector to another. Aside from the helmets, we get more shots of Riri Williams in her Ironheart suit. We’ll find out the identity of the new Black Panther soon. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters on November 11.
