Netflix’s The Witcher series is based on a Polish novel of the same name that was written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The main series focuses on Geralt of Rivia, a legendary monster hunter, and Princess Cirilla of Cintra, otherwise known as Ciri. Geralt takes Ciri under his wing, acting as a surrogate father and mentor. The first season introduced us audiences to Geralt’s adventures at various points in time. All of this culminates in a massive event known as the Battle of Sodden Hill. Season 2 of The Witcher will pick up exactly where Season 1 left following the events of the Battle of Sodden Hill. It also appears that audiences will see a different side of Geralt as she trains Ciri in combat and how to utilize her powers. However, much of the story of the eight-episode follow-up season remain under wraps. But, what is particularly interesting are the new characters coming in the second season. At the moment, fans are speculating that the sophomore season will adopt the events of the Blood of Elves novel. Luckily, we don’t have to wait too long to find out. The Witcher Season 2 is going to release on Netflix on December 17. After this, fans can look forward to Season 3, which is believed to start filming soon. There are also several other The Witcher projects in development, as revealed by Netflix during its recent TUDUM event. This includes a child-friendly The Witcher experience, a new anime feature film, and a live-action prequel set thousands of years before the events of the main series.
