Technically, Ambulance is a remake of a Danish film with the same name. The story revolves around a war veteran named Will Sharp asking for help from his adoptive brother, Danny, which leads to them robbing a bank only for their plans to fall through, leaving the two to hijack an ambulance and make their way through the crowded Los Angeles streets with a paramedic and an injured officer going along for the ride. Ahead of Ambulance’s theatrical release on April 8, Universal Pictures dropped a new trailer and it is peak Michael Bay. The latest Ambulance trailer is Michael Bay at his Michael Bayest. It’s everything that you could possibly ask for in a chaotic heist flick, complete with massive explosions in quick succession, more shooting, the destruction of city streets and buildings, as well as the dynamic of two characters who could not be furthest from each other on paper, but are brothers for some reason. Speaking of, Michael Bay decided to tickle the funny bone of audiences by throwing in a scene of the entire group singing to Christopher Cross’ Grammy-winning song, Sailing. It’s a weirdly apt change of pace from everything that’s going on around them with both the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI on their tale the entire time. As is always the case with Michael Bay movies, watching and enjoying Ambulance requires a certain level of suspension of disbelief. Nevertheless, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II at the lead, we can expect some strong performances from both actors that, when paired with Bay’s penchant for high-octane movies, should pull viewers in on April 8. Speaking of Michael Bay, the fan-favorite director is, unfortunately, sitting out the next Transformers film. Slated for a 2023 release, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be directed by Steven Caple Jr.
