Upcoming Metal Gear Solid Collection To Be a Pure Remaster

According to an anonymous leaker on image-based bulletin board, 4chan, there is a Metal Gear Solid Collection in the works. It will reportedly be split into two parts. The first part will contain Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, a 2004 remake of the original Metal Gear Solid title, as well as Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Meanwhile, the second part of the collection will include only Metal Gear Solid 4, which, the leaker claims, “has been a nightmare” to remaster. The leaker adds that the physical collection will only include the three games in disc form with an additional code provided for those who want to download and play Metal Gear Solid 4. Lastly, the leaker clarifies that the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Collection is just a port with better graphics. He tells readers not to expect anything like “haptic feedback” and “HD rumble”, as well as others like the skateboarding minigame and even the dream sequence. He ends things by saying that he has no idea why the collection leaves Peace Walker out, which is an important part of the Metal Gear Solid storyline.

Are The Metal Gear Solid Collection Rumors True?

There’s a huge chance that these leaks are true. There’s an even bigger chance that they’re just pure speculation as well. The main problem with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Collection rumor is that Twin Snakes was a Nintendo Gamecube exclusive. Because of this, Hideo Kojima claims that they couldn’t include the remake as part of the PlayStation 3’s Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection. Instead, Kojima had to resort to using the original Metal Gear Solid that released on the PlayStation in 1998. Speaking of 1998’s Metal Gear Solid and its 2004 remake, it’s also worth noting that the latter is not available on other platforms as of the moment. You can play the former on other platforms, including the PC via GOG, but it has definitely not aged well. Then there’s also the report that Bluepoint Games is working on a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation 5. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense to work on a remake and remaster at roughly around the same time. But, then again, who knows? It is possible that the Metal Gear Solid Collection is Konami’s way to generate hype for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid PS5 Remake. This would actually be a business savvy move. We also can’t deny that Konami doesn’t seem that much interested in releasing big titles anymore. From a powerhouse in the video game industry, Konami is a name that no longer pops up often. In fact, Konami’s releases have decreased so much in recent years. Their most notable product as of late is Pro Evolution Soccer 2021. Hopefully, we hear more about this Metal Gear Solid Collection rumor in the coming months. As of the moment, there’s no confirmed Metal Gear Solid game in development. However, there were reports back in late 2020 that Sony Pictures was working on a Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation with Oscar Isaac tabbed to take on the lead role of Solid Snake.
