Check out the leaked image and what it implies about the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home below.

Leaked photo shows a Doctor visit

The leaked photo, taken from the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home, was posted on social media and has several interesting details. The most significant is the appearance of the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Doctor Strange. Although the shot is a good distance away, one can see that it is Benedict Cumberbatch. Moreover, while the background sets are full of blue screen setups (in preparation for adding CGI in post-production), it is clearly going to be at the Sanctum Sanctorum, the mystical home of Strange and his ally Wong (Benedict Wong).

The photo shows Doctor Strange greeting Spider-Man in front of what appears to be the NY Sanctum Santorum, as well as featuring a F.E.A.S.T truck! pic.twitter.com/0Xo5qVK3yV — Spider-Man: No Way Home Updates (@spideyupdated) August 1, 2021 The shot shows Spider-Man across the street, but it is unclear whether he is just arriving or already leaving. Regardless, this does imply that the Wall-crawler will be paying a visit to Strange’s Bleecker Street location. This leak is significant as it confirms this film will serve as another bridge to the Master of the Mystic Arts’ own film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Furthermore, the persistent (though unconfirmed) speculation is that No Way Home will feature the Spider-Verse. In this particular case, the ongoing belief is that it will have previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles. Although the circumstances are unclear, it will apparently be to assist the MCU Spider-Man (Tom Holland) with other villains from the multiverse causing trouble. So far, the confirmed villains will be versions of Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina). According to rumors, this is a shorthand way of assembling the Sinister Six. Assuming Michael Keaton’s Vulture is also one of these villains, that leaves three more members unaccounted for. As they will be alternate reality versions of these villains and given that the good doctor is tasked with protecting his dimension from such incursions (as he stated during his first encounter with Thor and Loki in Thor: Ragnarok), the leaked photo helps to support these theories. On a lesser note, the photo also shows a F.E.A.S.T. truck. F.E.A.S.T. stands for Food Emergency Aid, Shelter, and Training. It is significant for two reasons. First, it is the organization that Peter Parker’s Aunt May (Marisa Tomei in the current film series) helps with the homeless of New York. Second, it is the front that the villain Mister Negative uses for his criminal Inner Demons. Mister Negative played a key role in the modern comics, animations, and in video games. This could just be an Easter egg or it might play a significant role in the course of No Way Home. Could Mister Negative be the main villain?

What If…? and Hot Toys

Although this leak is a little thin and barely enough to whet the appetite of Spider-Man and MCU fans, it does fuel speculation about how the plot of the movie will progress. But fans do not have to wait until Spider-Man: No Way Home to get their Spidey fix. The animated series What If…? currently on Disney+ has begun and is going see Spider-Man play a significant role in the storylines. What’s more, like the speculation about the Spider-Verse being part of No Way Home, there will be multiple Spider-Men in What If…?

— Spider-Man: No Way Home Updates (@spideyupdated) August 2, 2021 One of them will be, interestingly enough, an amalgamation of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. The Hot Toys tie-in action figure revealed that it will be called Zombie Hunter Spider-Man. The character wears a variation of the first Stark-tech Spider-Man suit (seen in Homecoming) and is also wearing the Cloak of Levitation. Unfortunately, unlike many of the characters appearing in the What If…? series, Tom Holland will not be voicing for Spider-Man. Regardless, fans are advised to check the series, as there will apparently be important connections to events that will transpire in the MCU proper as part of the Phase Four stories.

Come on, Tom!

In the past, Tom Holland had been notorious for his accidental (but amusing) tendency to leak details about the MCU films he appears in. He had been consistent in blurting out key elements of the plot or the characters that would be appearing. But Holland has been surprisingly quiet and has not revealed much about Spider-Man: No Way Home. Perhaps Marvel has learned from its past errors and tightened their security. Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), the newest high-profile actress to be added to the growing Marvel Studios talent pool, has previously shared how strict the guidelines are during production of Secret Invasion. Of course, there is still time for Holland to reveal something. Certainly, there is an army of Spidey fans waiting for news on the film. Marvel Studios’ What If…? animated series debuts on the Disney+ streaming service August 11, 2021. Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Toni Revolori, Angourie Rice. The film swings in for a December 17, 2021 theatrical release.
