Batgirl is finally set to start filming after a long wait
Leslie Grace was first confirmed as the lead actress in the upcoming Batgirl film back in July 2021. Since then, more details about the HBO Max movie have emerged. Case in point, J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon in Batgirl. Meanwhile, fan-favorite celebrity, Brendan Fraser, has also signed on as Firefly. Fast forward to today, and we’ve got more exciting details about Batgirl. The latest news comes courtesy of a mural that helps flesh out the world of Batgirl. In this particular image, you can see Keaton’s Batman wearing a different suit. The illustration suggests that Keaton’s Batman has made changes to his costume since the 1989 film. Meanwhile, the same mural also features a Robin.

However, neither one of Keaton’s Batman films saw him star alongside a younger actor as Robin. The last time we saw a live-action version of Robin was with Chris O’Donnell in 1995’s Batman Forever and 1997’s Batman and Robin alongside George Clooney. Having said that, Warner Bros. continues to do an excellent job at hiding important plot details for Batgirl. We know very little about Batgirl outside of what we’ve already mentioned. We don’t even know if Batgirl is set in the DCEU. On one hand, J.K. Simmons’ appearance as Commissioner Jim Gordon suggests that Batgirl is part of the DCEU. Then again, why is Keaton Batman in Batgirl’s world? Does this mean that J.K. Simmons’ Jim Gordon in Batgirl is different from the Jim Gordon we saw in Zack Snyder’s films? Unfortunately, audiences will have to wait for a while to find out the answer to these questions. Batgirl isn’t scheduled to release until later this year on HBO Max. In other DCEU news, Ezra Miller’s The Flash just confirmed that his standalone film, which will premiere on November 4, 2022, will not “reboot” the DCEU. Interestingly enough, Keaton’s Batman is set to appear in the said film, as well as Ben Affleck’s Batman.
