We’re now adding Namor, the first mutant from the comics, to the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will also be part of Deadpool 3. With all the mutants appearing in the MCU, it will be just a matter of time before we see the X-Men, a team of mutant superheroes enter the fray. Speaking to Deadline at the red-carpet premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed the often-asked question regarding the X-Men. “That’s what Jennifer Walters just asked the robot in the final episode of She-Hulk and I’ll give you the same answer he gave, which is – I don’t remember, no answer is what I think he gave,” Feige answers. He then adds, “but Deadpool and Wolverine, y’know, we’re getting close.”
— Deadline Hollywood (@DEADLINE) October 27, 2022 During the final episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk, broke the fourth wall and went to Disney Studios. While there, she found the office of “Kevin” which turned out to be a robot named K.E.V.I.N. She asked “when are we seeing the X-Men?” to which the robot replied, “I cannot tell you that.” Kevin Feige is great at dodging questions about the future plans of the studio. Having the MCU boss telling fans that “we’re getting close” should tell us that they have already had plans for it. Fans were disappointed that the X-Men or Deadpool 3 were not mentioned during the D23 Expo. The surprise announcement of Deadpool 3 and Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine for the movie sent fans into a frenzy. Many are speculating that Wolverine will usher in the era of mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios acquired the rights to the X-Men franchise when Disney purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019. Feige revealed that an X-Men reboot set in the MCU was in development. So far, we haven’t heard anything about the project. There may be issues with the X-Men timeline matching up to Marvel. The MCU had already planned Phase 4 to 6 when the acquisition of the rights to the X-Men happened. During the trailer for Deadpool 3, Reynolds addressed Wolverine’s death in Logan as being from a different timeline. We will be seeing another character linked to the X-Men in Emilia Clarke’s Abigail Brand added to the MCU. The commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D. will be part of the Secret Invasion mini-series on Disney+. Perhaps the series will introduce more characters like Hank McCoy aka Beast as a part of the series. Hopefully, Feige doesn’t make fans wait too long for the X-Men. A movie in Phase Six perhaps? Surely K.E.V.I.N. knows the answer to that.
