Nearly four years after it was first launched, it appears that Jump Force is saying goodbye for good in August 2022.
Jump Force will be unavailable for purchase in 2022
According to Bandai Namco, Jump Force will no longer be available on digital storefronts in American territories starting on February 7, 2022. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco will take down all online servers of the game by August 24, 2022. By then, gamers will no longer be able to purchase all Jump Force-related content from any digital storefront. This includes all the DLC and Character Packs as well as JF Medals. Unfortunately, by taking down the online servers, several Jump Force features will also go away. This includes the multiplayer lobby, online events and ranked matches, the clan function, as well as the leaderboards, and the notice board. The in-game store will also cease to exist. If it’s any consolation, gamers can still play Jump Force after August. The campaign mode, as well as DLCs, will remain intact and playable. The game’s PvP feature will still function, you just can’t play in ranked ones anymore. Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft probably had something with more longevity in mind when it released Jump Force. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. The game received mixed reviews at launch and never really took off. It wasted what could have been a crossover fighting game to rival the likes of Smash Bros, which recently welcomed Sora. Hopefully, someone decides to revisit the idea of a Shonen Jump fighting game. It was fun settling debates to see which Shonen protagonist or antagonist was strong, but we have to admit that the game had a serious bias towards swordsmen like One Piece’s Zoro and Bleach’s Ichigo.
