Depp’s lawyers’ subpoena Franco for his testimony
James Franco is an award-winning actor and is best known for his roles in films like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy as well as for his frequent collaborations with his close friend, Seth Rogen. After being in the public eye since bursting into the scene with 2001’s James Dean, Franco lied low starting in 2017 after several women lodged allegations of sexual misconduct against him. The women, who were former students of his acting school, Studio 4, claimed that The Interview actor used his position to take advantage of the enrollees. Surprisingly enough, this isn’t the first time that Franco’s name has re-emerged in public. The 43-year-old actor recently went on The Jess Cagle Podcast where he admitted to sleeping with the students of his acting school. However, he later explained that the more serious allegations were not true and the only reason he settled was to bring the lawsuit to an end. Just a short time after the said podcast, Depp’s lawyers have subpoenaed Franco. According to Page Six, this is part of Depp’s attempt to get the actor to testify as part of an ongoing defamation lawsuit against Heard. Heard and Depp are currently entangled in a lengthy and very public legal battle stemming from Heard’s allegations of domestic abuse against Depp. Franco’s involvement comes after footage shows the actor stepping inside an elevator with Heard after Depp reportedly gave her a black eye. Now, Franco will have to testify if he saw any signs of abuse or if Heard had ever told him about the allegations. To make matters worse, Depp has also accused Franco of having an extra-marital affair with Heard. Franco’s deposition is set to take place sometime in 2022 before the trial’s schedule in April of the same year. It appears that things are about to get a whole lot worse for Franco before they start to get better - and if ever at that. The public opinion on Franco is already at an all-time low. Not to mention, Depp recently spoke out against Hollywood’s “boycott” against him and we have little reason to believe that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor will take it easy against someone who allegedly had an affair with his ex-wife while the two of them were still married. In other news, Warner Bros. has since replaced Depp with Mads Mikkelsen for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Meanwhile, Aquaman 2’s filmmakers defended their decision to stick with Amber Heard earlier this year.
