Hellboy: Web of Wyrd’s official Steam page describes the title as follows, “Hellboy Web of Wyrd is a roguelite action adventure with an original story created in partnership with Dark Horse Comics and creator Mike Mignola. When an agent goes missing, Hellboy investigates. Prepare for monstrous toe-to-toe brawling.” Hellboy: Web of Wyrd’s trailer opens with the character squaring off against a wolf demon in an attempt to rescue a missing Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense agent. The trailer and the description suggest the game will primarily involve melee combat. However, fans will be hoping the title also provides access to Hellboy’s large arsenal of supernatural weapons, like his revolver the Samaritan. If early fan reactions are anything to go by, the title will be a hit. Hellboy: Web of Wyrd uses an art design that is reminiscent of the designs in Mignola’s original Hellboy comic series. Also, many of the game’s fans believe that the forthcoming game will be a reference to the original series. Upstream Arcade is working on Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, which created West of Dead, and it will be made in partnership with Dark Horse Comics and Mignola, the original creator of the comics. It will be published by Good Shepherd Entertainment. The series first came out in 1993 and it was published by Dark Horse Comics. It spawned a media franchise, including multiple animated and live films, among other things. The character has three live-action adaptations with Ron Perlman, who portrayed the character in the first two films, recently admitting he is interested in appearing in a third film. Lance Reddick, who lent his voice to Charon in John Wick Hex and Commander Zavala in the Destiny video game series, will voice the titular character. Hellboy: Web of Wyrd will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, although the exact date remains unknown.
