Harrison Ford and his iconic fedora made an appearance at Star Wars Celebration with the actor confirming that the movie is almost finished. Indiana Jones 5 sees a star-studded cast of characters join Harrison Ford in his return as the titular archeologist. Among others who’ll be joining Ford are Mads Mikkelsen and Antonio Banderas. Unfortunately, Steven Spielberg didn’t sign on to direct his fifth straight Indiana Jones film, but he is one of the film’s producers. Meanwhile, James Mangold, who directed 2017’s Logan, will be at the helm of Indy’s fifth adventure. Also, just to address the elephant in the room, Ford isn’t the only reason why Indiana Jones was at a Star Wars event. In case you’ve forgotten, Lucasfilm has always owned the IP. Star Wars creator, George Lucas, is the brains behind the franchise. It’s been a long time coming for Indiana Jones 5 after filming finished earlier this year. The series languished for over a decade following 2008’s failed reboot attempt, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Now that it’s all but set to arrive on June 30, 2023, it’ll be interesting how Ford’s return will set up future installments. In other news, Indiana Jones 5 wasn’t the only noteworthy announcement that came at the Star Wars Celebration. Cal Kestis’ return was also confirmed, with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor set to hit current-gen consoles and the PC platform in 2023. Season 3 of The Mandalorian also got a release date at the said event along with the gritty Star Wars prequel, Andor. As for Indiana Jones, Bethesda is working on a video game adaptation that “could” come out in 2024.
