One of the most prevailing issues throughout the three games that has been addressed by the latest patch is rain. To be fair, the rain problem encompassed a handful of issues and dozens of individual bugs where the weather effect would appear at times and in places where to really shouldn’t alongside the fact that it looked atrocious and made it nearly impossible to see what you are doing.

It seems as though all of the rain problems have been solved thankfully, and they’d have better - there definitely is enough room for it in a patch that allegedly fixed over 100 bugs according to Rockstar Games. Alongside the specific tackling of precipitation related problems, a bunch of other issues were fixed including misspelled signage, crashes, missing textures, collision problems, missions randomly failing, players falling through the ground, cars taking off the ground and more. Other standout fixes include the horrific sausage fingers on some character models, being entirely unable to save progress on PC if your username had special characters, menu elements being frightened by rapid clicks and refusing to work and where switching accounts would lock some achievements. All in all, the large swath of bug fixes, increased stability and one of the most pronounced issues being rectified will go a long way to make The Definitive Edition a much more playable experience, but it will ultimately take more than this to really redeem the remasters. A lot of the issues players reported upon release persist, like physics bugs, missing animations, odd AI behavior and more. Grove Street Games have their work cut out for them, but it is good to see that the promises about fixing the remasters weren’t empty - though we guess it helps with motivation when a huge game dev like Rockstar is looming over your shoulder with the notoriously vindictive daddy Take-Two Interactive casting an even bigger shadow. It remains to be seen if these fixes will be enough to woo back players to the remastered versions of the classic GTA titles, which have been put back on sale in their original forms and given away for free to all who purchased The Definitive Edition.
