What’s Coming to Xbox Game Pass this April?
Xbox Game Pass Community Lead, Megan Spurr, recently confirmed via the Xbox Wire that as many as 8 titles are headed to Xbox Game Pass starting on April 8. In addition to Grand Theft Auto V, the upcoming additions to Xbox Game Pass will also include Sony’s first-party title, MLB The Show 21, which is set to launch on April 20. Other titles include Zombie Army 4: Dead War, Disneyland Adventures, Rush: A Disney/Pixar Adventure, NHL 21, Rain On Your Parade, and Pathway. Of course, the big takeaway here is that GTA 5 will be available on the Xbox Game Pass. Rockstar Games’ marquee title was previously already available on Xbox Game Pass. However, it was replaced by Red Dead Redemption 2 last year. But, starting on April 8, GTA V will be available on the Xbox Game Pass once again. Perhaps more importantly, if you’re subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you’ll get a chance to play GTA 5 straight from your Android device. While it’s not exactly GTA 6, the novelty of playing GTA 5 on a mobile device should help satiate the current demand for the next GTA title. Along with the announcement, Microsoft also confirmed that their list of Xbox Game Pass titles with Xbox Touch Controls support has grown considerably since it first launched in September 2020. After starting with Minecraft Dungeons, the Xbox Game Pass now has more than 50 games that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can play using an Android device that supports touch controls. Last, but definitely not least, the latest Xbox Game Pass update also brings with it a new feature for subscribers playing on their Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X console. Going forward, the Play with Friends section will now show friends if you are playing a Game Pass title. This will then give them the option to join you in co-op gameplay or download what you are playing.
What’s Next for the Xbox Game Pass?
As of the moment, Xbox Game Pass is the best gaming subscription service. Not only will it have GTA 5 (and GTA Online) soon enough, but Microsoft has also secured a couple of launch titles already. This includes the aforementioned MLB The Show 21 and People Can Fly’s AAA looter-shooter, Outriders. There are also rumors that Microsoft and EA are in talks to make the next Battlefield game available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch later this year. On the other hand, Sony’s offerings aren’t half-bad either. The Play at Home initiative will make Horizon: Zero Dawn available for free to everyone in a few weeks. Meanwhile, the latest PlayStation Plus offering includes Days Gone. Lastly, Sony also secured Marvel’s Avengers for their Xbox Game Pass counterpart, PlayStation Now, this April.
