Security Breach Delayed to Late 2021
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is the latest installment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series of survival horror games. The game was initially intended to release in late 2020. However, Cawthon later decided to push back the release date to early 2021. This time around, Security Breach will most likely not release until at least a year after it was first intended to launch. Developer Scott Cawthon took to Reddit to announce the most recent Security Breach delay. He explains that the decision comes after the game just “kept getting bigger and bigger and needed more time to finish”. If it’s any consolation, Cawthon did release a new free game on Game Jolt entitled Security Breach: Fury’s Rage. This all-new free-to-play beat-em-up title is essentially a reskinned Streets of Rage game. The main difference is that you’re playing as beefed-up Five Nights at Freddy’s characters instead. Similar to Streets of Rage, the game will have you walking through various locations and beating enemies up. With that said, you’d think that a second delay would warrant a more extensive explanation of Security Breath. So far, outside of the initial announcement and the trailer featured at the February 2021 State of Play showcase by Sony, we know very little about Security Breach. Five Nights at Freddy’s first gained recognition back in 2014 after streamers and Youtubers featured the first game in their Let’s Play videos. The series quickly grew to see multiple sequels over the years, becoming a brand and even expanding to other media. This includes everything from novels to stuffed toys, action figures, and more. Blumhouse Productions was reportedly set to produce a movie adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s. However, that plan seems to be on pause at the moment. It is currently unknown if Security Breach will have a virtual reality mode, similar to 2019’s Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted.
