The trailer opens with Adonis “Donnie” Creed recounting his history and how far he’s come. Adonis remembers his dad, fighting “Pretty” Ricky Conlan, meeting Bianca, and the time he spent with Rocky. He then finishes his reminiscence with, “This is built on their shoulders.” However, the universe has something else planned for him, starting with the return of an old friend, Jonathan Majors’ Damian Anderson. Damian is someone from Donnie’s past who’d spent the last 18 years locked behind bars. Anderson and Donnie had grown up together until his incarceration and he seems to want to rekindle their friendship. Unfortunately for Donnie, he has ulterior motives. The trailer continues with Creed attempting to show Anderson around and acquaint himself with his new surroundings. It didn’t take long for Anderson to make his intentions clear. His old friend, Anderson, has beef with everyone, including Creed. The hostile Anderson then tells Creed that he’s “coming for everything.” The trailer proceeds with bouts that lead up to Creed and Anderson engaging in a brutal faceoff with one another. The trailer promises an exciting, adrenaline-pumping, heart-racing film. The fight scenes are looking deadly and the emotional scenes really tug at the heartstrings. You can watch the trailer below to judge for yourself. Creed III is the third installment of the highly successful Creed series. The films themselves are a spinoff of one of the most iconic American films of all time Rocky. They center around Michael B. Jordan’s character, Adonis Creed, as he progresses in his boxing career, carrying on the legacy of Balboa and his father Apollo Creed, who was Rocky Balboa’s friend and rival. In the previous installments, we saw Creed fight against Ricky Conlan, the world lightweight champion, and Viktor Drago, the son of the boxer who killed his father. While these films are about Creed, they also tethered him to Rocky. Creed III is set to make a departure from these, though, as Sylvester Stallone will not feature as his most popular character. Apart from Jordan and Majors, other cast members of Creed III include Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Florian Monteneau, Wood Harris, Tony Bellew as Bianca Taylor, Mary Anne Creed, Viktor Drago, Tony “Little Duke” Evers, and “Pretty” Ricky Conlan respectively. Also, the film will feature Selenis Leyva, Spence Moore II, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Mila, Davis-Kent, and Canelo Alvarez, among others, in undisclosed roles. Additionally, Creed III marks the directorial debut of Michael B. Jordan. If the trailer is anything to go by, he did a very good job of it. Zach Baylin, who penned Serena Williams’s biopic, King Richard, wrote the script with Keenan Coogler, the brain behind Space Jam: A New Legacy. By the way, Majors’s next big role is Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is set to make his debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which is scheduled for a February 2023 release.
