At the moment, fans are still waiting for Capcom to come through on its earlier promise to release a DLC for Resident Evil Village. But, in the meantime, the Resident Evil developers are giving fans a gift.
According to their most recent announcement, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 will all be getting “visual enhancements” later this year for the Xbox Series S/X and the PlayStation 5. The company didn’t exactly reveal when the next-gen updates are coming and what exactly they include, but we can assume that it will be a worthwhile upgrade. If nothing else, the improvements are all coming for free to everyone who already owns the aforementioned games, so they should at least be worth trying out.

For example, Resident Evil 7’s model for Chris Redfield wasn’t exactly consistent with the character’s usual portrayal. Resident Evil Village fixed that and some are hoping that Capcom will use the same model from the 2021 title for 2017’s Resident Evil game. Interestingly enough, the announcement comes just as eagle-eyed observers spotted Capcom making updates to the Resident Evil history page that hinted at remasters for Resident Evil: CODE Veronica and Resident Evil Outbreak. The verdict is still out if Capcom is indeed working on bringing both underrated spin-offs to modern platforms, but fans are keeping a close eye on the official Resident Evil social media accounts just in case. Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 are three of the four latest Resident Evil games to come out. The latter two are remakes of the classic Resident Evil games bearing the same name. Rumor has it that a remake of Resident Evil 4 is in the works, but so far, Capcom hasn’t announced or teased anything to suggest it is coming. In other news, Capcom has Resident Evil fans on the edge of their seats in February following their countdown. Much to the dismay of many, the timer wasn’t for anything related to Resident Evil. Rather, Capcom used it to hype the announcement of Street Fighter VI.
