Footage from the multiplayer beta appeared on multiple hosting sites not too long ago. A video on Streamable has already been nuked, but a 14 minute gameplay video hosted on Vimeo is still viewable at time of writing.
Members of the press have been given hands-on time with the Vanguard multiplayer, with embargos on impressions articles lifting. The leaked gameplay footage from the testing phase confirms much of what is stated in these previews - Call of Duty: Vanguard is basically a Modern Warfare reskin. We knew that Vanguard will be using the same engine as the Modern Warfare reboot did in 2019, which would have inherently led to some similarities in how the games handle, but it has become clear that the studio decided to just recycle a lot of what we already saw years ago. If you have spent any time in MW or Warzone, Vanguard will feel very familiar. In the 14 minutes of Vimeo footage, the leaker plays two matches. The first takes place on map clearly in the Pacific theatre, whereas the second seems to be in a European city. Limited gameplay footage has been shared by the press as well from their own gameplay previews, however these are mostly just snippets. The bullet physics, time-to-kill, sprinting speed and distance and even UI elements hammer home the feeling that the game is a Modern Warfare reskin, with arguably worse weapons. If you like the way Modern Warfare and Warzone plays, this might be good mix - why fix something that isn’t broken, right? For those itching to try out Call of Duty: Vanguard before the November 5 release date, you’ll definitely be able to by September 18 at the latest, which is when the open beta will be accessible on all platforms. If you are lucky, you might get chosen for one of the more limited betas sooner.
