With Obi-Wan Kenobi finally premiering on May 27, Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games officially revealed the first of EA’s three upcoming projects based on the franchise from a galaxy that’s far, far away. As per earlier leaks, Jedi: Survivor will be the sequel to 2019’s Jedi: Fallen Order. The follow-up has a 2023 release window and is exclusive to the Xbox Series S/X and the PS5 as well as the PC. The game will pick up following the events of the first game, with Cal Kestis still on the run alongside his fan-favorite droid helper, BD-1. The sequel will see Cal try to rebuild the Jedi order after Order 66 wiped all but a few from the face of the galaxy. According to the game’s director, Stig Asmussen, the sequel will take advantage of current-gen hardware and will support faster loading times as well as ray-tracing. Jedi: Survivor’s reveal was always a matter of when and not if. EA confirmed earlier this year that it had three games based on Star Wars. Although most are understandably looking forward to what Respawn has in store, it’s probably too soon to find out more about them. Unlike Jedi: Survivor, which has been in development for a while, Respawn probably only started production on the other two. If it’s any consolation, we do know that one of the two games in development at Respawn is a stylish FPS title, so it might be a mix of Titanfall and Star Wars. Speaking of Star Wars, after LucasFilm Games opened the Star Wars license last year, we’ve found out that there are several Star Wars games in development. In addition to the aforementioned titles, Aspyr Media, Quantic Dream, and Amy Hennig, are all working on a new Star Wars game.
