Activision has finally talked about Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile again after going silent for the better part of the past year. According to the video game publisher, it plans to formally unveil the mobile game next week at the Next event. Warzone Mobile will join Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 on the 15th as the highlights of the upcoming Call of Duty showcase. Activision first announced Warzone Mobile in March, but the game’s been rumored since at least 2020, thanks to job listings and insider info. It only makes sense for Activision to bring Warzone to a more accessible platform. The free-to-play shooter is easily its most profitable product. With Call of Duty Mobile pulling in good numbers as well, Warzone Mobile should help with the game’s dwindling player count. Activision didn’t confirm when Warzone Mobile will come out. However, it’s believed that it will come out later this year alongside Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. It’s not clear what Activision has planned for Call of Duty Mobile once Warzone Mobile is released. Both could technically co-exist with each other. Warzone Mobile might end up being a more high-end alternative fit for more powerful gaming devices. This move makes the most sense as it would let Activision implement better synergy across Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 if that is on the table. Regardless of what will happen, we’ll only have to wait for a week to find out more about Warzone Mobile. Speaking of Call of Duty, we haven’t heard back from either Sony or Microsoft after their recent public spat. Phil Spencer recently spoke of the arrangement Microsoft Gaming had with Sony for its rival company to enjoy Call of Duty for more years once the acquisition is closed. But, Jim Ryan wasn’t a fan of making the private discussion public. The PlayStation head also described the offer by Microsoft Gaming as “inadequate”, suggesting that all is not well between the two gaming giants.
